STEP 5: Adding A New Contact (Pastor, Youth Leader, Church Lay Leader etc)

So now with our new test church we are going to add a couple of different people. We know they have a senior church leader and a youth leader. We want to add both of those into the database. There details are below:

DO NOT FORGET TO SEARCH
Quite often church leaders of all types move churches. So it is possible that you may already have them in the database and they have moved churches. I quite often just search their surname or first name to see all the possibilities.

You must always associate a contact with a Church or Organisation so it is important to make sure that the church they belong to is in the database first. If you have missed this step please go back to Step 3. Version 2.1.3, November 2019 6

There are multiple ways to add a contact. One of the easiest ways is to click on the contacts tab and then on the right hand side of the screen click “new”.

You can also add a new contact through the church / organisation. This way you make sure the contact gets added to the right church. To do this:

1. Search for the church you created using search at the top of the page.
2. Click on the church name of the church you want. This will take you into the church detail screen.
3. Hover over the Related List Quick Links > Contacts a. Click new.
4. Fill in the details in Exercise 2. Create two new contacts.

Exercise 2 – Entering a Contact

1. Search first to make sure the contact doesn’t exist 
2. Click on Contacts Tab, then click “New” on the right hand side of the screen.
3. Use the details below to enter the 2 contacts for the church you created.

Senior Church Leader’s Details
First Name: [Your best friend’s first name]
Last Name: [Your favourite make of car]
Role at Church: Senior Church Leader
Church Name: St [your first name]’s Test Church
Preferred Phone Number: Mobile
Mobile No: [enter a fake mobile number]
Work No: [enter a fake work phone number]
Preferred email: Work
Work email: firstname@[yourfirstname]church.org
Primary Address: Work

Youth Leader’s Details
First Name: Jessica
Last Name: [your favourite breakfast]
Role At Church: Youth Pastor / Leader
Church Name: St [your first name]’s Test Church
Preferred Phone Number: Mobile
Mobile No: [enter a fake mobile number]
Preferred email: Work
Work email: [your personal / 2nd email address]
Personal email: jessica@jonomail.com
Primary Address: Work 

Click Save and New after you have created the first contact and the Save after the second contact.

DO NOT CONTACT
Use this only if you never want them included in emails or phone lists.
