STEP 7: Sending Emails
Emails are pretty easy to send from Salesforce. And we know that it is a great way to track your interactions with the person and church. So would recommend that you send and record important emails from and in Salesforce. (In the next section we will teach you how to use a template so you can send emails super quickly!)
Exercise 4 – Send an email.
To send an email to an individual.
- Go to Jessica’s contact page. (You can use search, or click on Contacts and use the Recently Viewed)
- Click on the Email tab in the Activity Centre / area on the right hand side of the screen.
- It will auto-populate a number of fields.
- Your email address
- Who you are sending it to
- If you have set up the option for it to BCC you on the email it will also send to you.
- Enter your subject line.
- Enter the contents of your email in the large box
- Set the Related To: to Churches / Organisations and then start typing the name of the person’s church and you will see it appear.
- Press Send (if you have followed the instructions this should send the email to you!) a. Attach file (attach pdfs, jpgs, word and excel files etc)
There are some important icons at the bottom of the page. These icons can add additional features
From left to right these are:
- Attach file (attach pdfs, jpgs, word and excel files etc)
- Insert Merge field (for use with templates)
- Insert, Create or Update Template (more on this below)
- Preview Email
- Clear Email and revert
- Popout to dock view (just pops out the email box so it’s in a different window)
