STEP 11: Creating a Course
A core thing that we want to be able to do is to record courses. Whether they are Alpha, Marriage or Parenting courses we want to make sure that we have all of this information in Salesforce. Creating a course is a very easy process. (Especially if you have done everything else above!) Click on the courses tab and then click New to create a new course.
For each course you need to have a church to connect the course to. You also need to have a contact that can be added to the course as the Course Administrator.
The main way you add a course is click on the Courses tab in the navigation bar, and then click on the New button on the right hand side of the screen.
- You can also add a new course directly from the Church page. Here is how:
- Use the Search box at the top of the screen to find the church you want to add a course to.
- Click on the church name to open the detail page
- Click on the Related Tab Option
- You can also use the Related List quick links at the top of the page too.
- Scroll down until you see the Courses option click New. (a new dialog box will pop up)
Exercise 9 - Create a New Course
- Click New.
- Course Name: I recommend using the type of course and the Church Name for example: Alpha @ St Jono’s Test Church
- Course Type: options are Alpha, Marriage, Parenting, Other
- Materials Used: Alpha Film Series, Alpha Youth Film Series etc
- Setting: This enables you to say if it is in a prison, high school or some other option
- Course Language: The language the course is in
- Church Organisation: The church the course is associated with, search for the church you created.
- Course Administrator: The course administrator, use the senior church leader you created earlier.
- Start Date and End Date: The date and time the course starts and finishes. (set one in the next month)
- Address: At the very least enter a city that is relevant to your country.
- Press Save when you are finished. You’ve created a course!
Course Details contains all the contact information for the course including the contact email and phone number for the course and the address the course will be held at. Make sure the city is relevant to you.
In the Alpha Digital Information please do not touch the Alpha Digital Link or Link Date
