Getting Started: Translating Marriage Builder
POEditor (Link)
This covers the User Interface, and includes things like buttons, forms, and most things you see on Marriage Builder. We have done and will do most translations in POEditor for you.
If you don’t have access and need to update / complete your translation please contact your Regional Digital Coordinator.
If your country language is not in POEditor, please contact Regional Digital Coordinator, and we will add it.
Marriage Builder pulls POEditor updates you make on a weekly basis (Monday). If this is not the case, please contact Regional Digital Coordinator and we will troubleshoot.
Please note: we periodically add new lines/word to POEditor, so it is worthwhile to check it to remain up to date
Making translations on POEditor is very simple, you fill in your translation opposite the English version.
Please note: you can filter by categories, such as 'untranslated', or search for a word like 'Province'.
Marriage Builder Translator View
The Translator View is for content that is added to the site or is removable, unlike POEditor which is for content that cannot be removed.
This edits content for all NAO's. If you want to make a Local Customisation, such as for the Marriage Course, you can do that as explained here.
To do this switch to Translator View by going to the top right where it says your name, and then select, “Switch to Translator View”.
The next screen shows you all of the translations you can complete. You will see the key areas to translate. Click on the hyperlinked text (in blue and underlined) to get to the relevant content in each area.
The process is very similar for all translation.
- Use the hyperlinks or the menu on the left hand side of the screen to select the area that you want to translate.
- You will see a list of items that need to be translated under that heading.
- Choose the item that you would like to edit and click the edit or create button / hyperlink.
- For some items, eg Resources, you only need to change the title to the language that you would like it to be in. For others, eg Pages, you will need to change the text and formatting so that the page presents the way you would like it to. For this you may need to be aware of how web pages are created and using the appropriate tags eg.

,

- Once you have completed the translation of one item (Resources, Pages etc) then click on the Dashboard button on the menu on the top left hand side of the screen to return to the Dashboard and select the next area you wish to translate.
What about translation for other Languages I don't speak?
Some translations will automatically populate, such as Product titles and descriptions.
However some things need to be pushed to your site. You can do this by going to the Admin View. Tools -> Automatic Translations. You can press the 'Sync Now' button, to sync your site to other site's translations.
If some text have multiple options that could be correct simple select them in the 'Manual Translations' column.
