Installation via FTP

Some regions reported issues installing the site via the Duplicator Pro plugin interface.

Here is an alternative method of installing the site - it has been tested on WPEngine hosting.

Pre-requisites:

1. An existing WordPress site. We recommend a new installation since the site will be completely replaced by the one you will be installing - that includes administrators.

2. Package file named 'AlphaTheme_v1_1xxx_xxxx-archive.daf' downloaded from the link provided by Digital. (note that this is a different file from the original provided at launch)

3. installer.ph1 file downloaded from the link provided by Digital

3.  Server FTP access where the WordPress site is installed

4. Username and password to login into the new site - provided by Digital.

Installation

1. Using your FTP client (free Filezilla client can be downloaded here) login to your server where your blank WordPress site is installed.

2. Copy the package file and installer file to the root directory of your site. Rename the installer file to installer.php by right-clicking on it and choosing Rename (WPEngine doesn't allow .php file uploads, therefore, requiring this step). Your FTP panel should resemble this screenshot.

3. Enter your site domain /installer.php to start the installation.

4. The installer validation screen will appear. Accept Terms at the bottom of the screen and click 'Next'
5. Another pop-up will appear. Click OK.

6. The installation will proceed

7.  Finalize installation by clicking 'Admin Login' and then login with the username/password provided by Digital.

8. As a final step, purge any cache from your server. Below is the WPEngine interface.

IMPORTANT: The site came with a set of users that should not have access to your copy of the site. As soon as the migration is completed go to Users and delete all users but yourself. You can then add users for your region/country. See overview of user roles in WordPress.

Congratulations! You now have a copy of Alpha.org site that you can customize to fit your needs. Next, review the Configuration section.
