Making a Local Product
Some countries may have created their own Local Product that does not fit within the style or structure of the Global Products, such as Hong Kong's Alpha Next Gen. Lite, which breaks down each episode into smaller videos, to allow them to be run on short lunch breaks. Or the German Alphalive videos, which are similar in style to Alpha with Nicky Gumbel, but are branded and organised differently.
These are considered 'Local Products', as they are only relevant to the country that made them, and therefore should only be on their site.
Please note, Local Products are NOT translations of Global Products, such as a Czech version of the Alpha Youth Series, or a Vietnamese version of the Alpha Film Series. These are all translations, and we upload these for you. You should not upload these locally.
If you decide you need a Local Product go to your Dashboard and click the 'Products tab.
From here click the 'Add New' button at the top.
Give the Local Product its name.
Please note: this can be edited later if you make a mistake.
You will now be looking at the blank 'Local Product'. Fill this in as needed, following these steps:
Configuring the Product
- This is the language that you Local Product is in, for most this will be the native language of your Country.
Please note: you can edit the Primary language after you've saved the product (unless you've then made an additional translation of the Local Product too) - Upload the thumbnail for this product. This will appear across your site, so make sure it is the correct ration and image size
- The banner image that appears on the Product over (in Preview Resources)
- These are the Questions that related to your Local Product. These are used to suggest a course to a user, which is explained here.
- Title - what Course Admins will see when previewing and running the course.
- Blurb (USED WHERE****** alpha.org?) - explains all that is available in the Local Product.
Please note: this is written with code, you can copy the code from another Global Product and then edit in your text, while keeping the code elements. - Excerpt - briefly outlines the content used in the Preview Resources page.
- Promotional Content & Materials Content - to explain or announce when new items are released/coming, and to explain what some items are. You can also link to you Alpha Shop too, if your NAO sells promotional items (such as banners)
- Course Teaser (USED WHERE**** alpha.org?)
- Course Planning - This is the default Schedule people will be given when using your Local Product. Filter the items list by selecting the Product you want from the drop down (e.g Alphalive Videotalks). Then drag over the items to the right section.
- Team Training & Talks - Repeat the process for Course Planning above for Team Training & Talks. This is for the Resource Materials page in someones Alpha, where they download the Episodes & Training
- Presenters & Contributors - info about the presenters of the product
- What's Included - quick summary of what Course Admins can access
- Click Publish / Save at the page top to save the Local Product
